A series of animated episode related trailers for HPE’s tech talk podcast

Ranked in the top 2% of tech podcasts – Technology Untangled is a show that deciphers tech’s rapid evolutions with one simple question in mind: what’s really going to shape our future (and what’s going to end up in the bargain bin with the floppy disc)?

Brief
Working alongside the internal HPE team and the shows host Michael Bird, the first stage of the brief was to build out and develop numerous creative design routes to help visualise the new podcast across the various social landscapes. The second stage was the to design 30 second trailers that relies heavily on motion graphics and sound bites.

Untangling innovation

Utilising audio clips from the show, as well as having Michael Bird provide relevant trailer voice over I was able to produce a series of light and fun feeling animated audio visual sequences. Making full use of the extensive HPE colour palette. The trailers were colourful, fast moving, teasing but informative and worked perfectly for their social platforms.

Animating Audio
To maintain a consistency I would recolour and reuse the initial animated ‘Technology Untangled’ logo ident I created. Our voice over format would remain relatively consistent, So particular sections of the 30-50 second trailers would have familiarity. I would include sections where I visually animated the audio waves. This created a tangible link to the point of being an advertisement for an audio based platform.

Static Assets
The reach of HPE as a brand is far and wide, so the creation of static assets were also needed. PSD templates were created in a toolkit that could be edited by the HPE team. To make this as versatile and helpful as possible I created several colour variations of each layout. It was nice to see as some of the animated stills were quite unique so to have used these assets in a hybrid capacity felt like it was a highly valuable contribution.
