In my role as Lead Designer for this project, I helped Myriad Genetics evolve its visual identity to adapt to digital-first environments.

Myriad Genetics is a leading provider of genetic testing and insights in five key health areas: hereditary cancer risk, oncology, prenatal care, urology, and mental health. As the design lead for this project, I was responsible for developing a new visual identity that would differentiate each focus area while maintaining a consistent brand look and feel.

To create a comprehensive visual identity for Myriad Genetics, I developed a system of colors, typography, and graphics unique to each focus area while sharing common design elements that reflects the nature and purpose of the tests offered in that area.

The result is a cohesive and distinctive visual identity that makes it easy for patients and providers to recognize each focus area while also conveying the company’s values, mission, and expertise. For example, theĀ  MyRisk (hereditary cancer) focus area is represented by a palette of soft blues and greens, while the Prolaris (Prostate Cancer) focus area features a palette of deeper blues and teals. The Prequel (prenatal genetic insights) focus area is characterized by a serene palette of mauve, pink and blue.

Exploring the compelling true stories through striking portrait photography and rigorous visual development.

This section features a collection of social media posts designed to reinforce Myriad Genetics’ position as a trusted provider of genetic insights. The unique ‘M’ graphic has design variations used in the posts that are specifically chosen to help identify each of these five business areas, allowing viewers to quickly and easily understand the focus of each post. The posts effectively communicate important information about the organization’s genetic testing services and promote awareness of their focus areas, which include hereditary cancer risk, oncology, prenatal care, urology, and mental health.

The animated glass effect in the shape of an M, resembling DNA sequence, draws attention to the Myriad Genetics logo, making it a unique and striking design element. This M graphic is an important part of the organization’s brand identity and creates a strong visual connection to the important work they do in helping people understand their genetic health risks. The design includes a human element, emphasizing the company’s commitment to compassion and patient care.

Bringing Science to Life

This section showcases a series of digital banners. The banners feature the eye-catching photography treatment which puts people as the central focus with relevant focus area messaging. The design elements used in the banners, such as the M graphic variations and the distinctive color palettes, create a recognizable hierarchy that will elevate the brand positioning online.

The tutorial showcased in this section provides a step-by-step guide on how to achieve the animated glass effect in the shape of an M that appears in front and behind the key subject in the photo. By breaking down the design process into clear and concise steps, the tutorial allows designers to easily replicate the effect for their own projects.
